SUMMER FRESH CORN AND ZUCCHINI CHOWDER - I know it's not summer, but I saw a picture of this soup and my mouth started to water. I think a corn chowder is much better suited for cold weather anyways. I may add a chipotle pepper to spice it up a bit.
SPICY CALIFORNIA SHRIMP STACK - How pretty are these? I think Darby will have a blast helping me make them. And, usually, when she helps me prepare dinner, she's more likely to eat it. I will probably do some sort of salad on the side.
I'm already hearing everyone on Facebook complain about Elf on the Shelf. I never started it because I knew it would stress me out and I would forget to do it every night. However, I heard of a nanny last year who was selling Elf on the Shelf kits so that you didn't have to think of new scenarios for the elf each night - it included all of the ideas and props. I checked Etsy, and there are tons of them there. Some of them are printables and the others are full kits with all the accessories, so you would need to order fast!
There are so many other kits here!
Last year with Darby I did Truth in the Tinsel which is 24 days of advent activities including a Bible verse and craft each night. It was awesome but it was a lot of work, so we're going to take it easy this year and do this instead. I think Darby made the Baby Jesus and manger in Sunday School or daycare last year, so I just need to buy some straw or yarn to get started.
And, yes, Darby was sitting in her baby sister's exersaucer for the picture. She had a friend over and they've been playing babies all afternoon. She would not get out for the photo and this was my only shot to write a blog post this weekend.
Here are some other Elf on the Shelf alternatives if you're interested. I hope you had a great Thanksgiving with your families! It's the most wonderful time of the year!!!
