Someone asked me how we go about finding our Caribbean villas. Homeaway is one of my favorite websites for scouting them out. They have great filters for narrowing down the search to exactly the kind of property and price point you want (pool, beachfront, bedroom count, townhouse, villa, wifi, etc.). We then read as many reviews as we can online; email the owners with questions about amenities, location, hidden fees, and booking/payment process; and use Google maps to see if we are within close walking or driving distance of restaurants.
We've always found great prices on villas in Barbados, but the flights have been a little more difficult to come by. It's definitely at the top of our list for a trip in the future. These are all priced at around $100/person/night for a party of six. Whether you're planning a real trip or just taking a fantasy trip from your office desk, Homeaway is a great place to start. Enjoy!
St. Philip Villa at Coral Point Estate - I love the small, intimate beach at this four bedroom villa. If you're looking to get away from it all, this is the place for you.
Merlin Bay Villas | Gingerbread, Nutmeg, Secret Garden, and Hibiscus - These villas all have their own private plunge pools and a shared resort pool. If being in a different country makes you nervous, these offer privacy and the peace of mind of being in a small townhouse community.
Allamanda at Emerald Beach - This villa has a shared resort pool (although not pictured) and comes with a cook who has received rave reviews! It is also in a small community of villas.
Chanel No. 5 and Fathom's End Villas at Mahogany Bay - I posted about these villas before here, but I always end up back here when I'm villa hunting in Barbados. They have private plunge pools and are steps from the beautiful beaches of Mahogany Bay.
Now that we're thinking beach and warm weather, this is my favorite bathing suit of all time. The quality is amazing and it stays put very well. Several of my friends have bought them as well. Here are a few more classic one pieces you'll want to check out for this summer.
