I'm going to try out a family movie night blog series since we've been loving them at our house so much. I will share a recipe the whole family has loved lately as well as a movie with a few questions to discuss as a family.
This whole question thing started with Chick-fil-A. In a recent kids' meal there was a set of conversation starters. Darby like them so much I started looking up questions on my phone for discussion at dinner once we had used the CFA ones up. Now, we can't sit down at the table without her begging for me to ask her questions. I figure I should take advantage of this before she's a teenager who doesn't want to talk to us anymore! I also want to start now creating a family culture which emphasizes open and honest communication.
RECIPE | Mongolian Beef and Broccoli
This recipe is from The Skinnytaste Cookbook which I checked out from the library a few weeks ago. Gina never does me wrong. The beef was super tender and the sauce was out of this world. I served it over my favorite Trader Joe's frozen brown rice. Darby and Mark loved it!
MOVIE | Annie
This is On Demand right night for $2.99 or $3.99. Here are some questions to get the conversation started! (Adapted from this Annie Study Guide. Because I used to be an English teacher.) We watched the original, but the questions would work with the newer movie as well.
1) What is your definition of "family"?
2) What kind of family do you want to have one day?
1) Who was your favorite character and why?
2) How do Annie and Oliver Warbucks change by the end of the movie?
3) How do you feel about Miss Hanagan? Was she mostly good or mostly bad?
Let me know if you have any recipe or movie suggestions!
