This and That

Happy Monday! I have so many pictures on my iPhone of things I've been meaning to share. I'm just going to share it all right now so I can clean out my phone. Prepare for random!

The night before my trip, my husband and I went to Beijing on Grove for Valentine's Day. We also ended up meeting friends there last weekend for dinner. We ordered a bunch of things to share with our friends, so I have eaten my way through a lot of the menu at this point. I love the chili dumplings (a must if you go, IMHO), pork gyoza, hawker sticks, pai gow shrimp, and curry rice noodles. Skip the crispy chicken rolls. Also, I've had the tangerine beef, and, while flavorful, it was a little too thickly battered and fried for my taste. The chili dumplings and hawker sticks are pictured below. Also, I love the One Night in Bangkok cocktail!

The girls and I went on a walk/bike ride across the Potterfield Memorial Bridge (or T. Pot Bridge, as my hip friend says it's called) a few weeks ago when it was really warm. It is the perfect place for a family outing. Darby only ran into one person on her bike, so I'll count that as a success. The views of the city are gorgeous.

I am obsessed with the Peanut Butter Punch smoothie at Ginger Juice. I tried to recreate it at home with the bowl pictured below. I'm not sure about this whole smoothie bowl thing yet, but I'm giving it a try.

I was invited to dinner at Wardrobe, my favorite clothing boutique in Richmond. It was such a fun evening, and I was super impressed by the food. There is obviously no kitchen in the restaurant so Jessica, the store owner, and the caterer had to get creative with a menu of things that are easy to make-ahead and didn't need to be heated up. It was so yummy and would be perfect to recreate for a baby shower or even a dinner party.

Darby had a 100th Day of School celebration last week so she had to dress up like an old lady. We had so much fun pulling this outfit together which included my great-grandmother's necklace. I used Not Your Mother's dry shampoo to make her hair white.  Just spray it really thickly all over and don't brush it through as you would normally do. It smelled nice and we just brushed it that night to get rid of it all. And, I counted it as a hair washing, so we put that off for a few more days.

I am just proud of how pretty those egg white oats turned out, so I had to share. Just microwave 1/4 c. oatmeal with 1/2 c. egg whites until all the eggs are cooked and top with your favorite nut butter and bananas. Add bacon if you want Elvis oats. They are divine.

I saw these movies at the library on Thursday and got so excited. I wasn't sure if Darby would like them because she all "if it's not animated, I'm not watching it," but she is now obsessed. I read both of the books as a girl and remember watching these movies. If you have little girls, I highly recommend them! I think I'm getting close to singing along with her to Seven Brides for Seven Brothers. And then life will be complete.

Hope you have a great week!
